Uhmm. MPlayer isn't on debian's FTP's or so, only the facilities for
building the package are there. So it's needed that you build your own
mplayer. MPlayer is'nt on apt if you find for it, and not in
packages.debian.org, and the debmake utlities are GPL so you can use
it for mplayer if you want.
Codecs are not stolen, as long they're not bakcwards enginiered to
break them they're not stolen, or is WINE illegal? it emulates the
whole w32 api and it's there and in debian too.

PD: mplayer IS NOT on debian's apt you must fetch it from the
mplayer's CVS.
