ok, just re-implemented it.
now it's disabled by default, and has 3 levels:
cmdline option:
-noframedrop = no frame dropping
-framedrop = frame drooping (decode all frames, skip display only)
-hardframedrop = hard frame drop (skip decoding if needed - buggy with divx)
(also you can use 'd' key to cycle it runtime)
if your cpu is slow even for decoding (it eats all the cpu with -vo null
too) then try -hardframedrop -nodshow
dshow version is very buggy when hard frame dropping used, vfw is much
better here.
when to enable it?
if A-V keeps increasing (V<A).
i'm interested in positive and negative results.
"unfortunately" i can't test -framedrop here, because video display
eats 4% cpu even for -vo x11 32bpp 720x380 divx...
