Hi there all,

I just have a simple question. I have downloaded and installed the cvs
(20011108) and am now trying mencoder. I can encode from DVD, howver I get
no sound. I must be doing something wrong I guess, but I can't work it out
:-(

What I am trying is this:

mencoder -dvd 1 -chapter 5 -aid 128 -oac mp3lame -lameopts br=128 -o
film.avi

If I leave out the "-aid 128" it encodes without sound. Mplayer plays by
default this DVD in German, so I guess I have to use the same variables to
try english. When I use the -aid part, it bombs out saying:

I have lame (well liblame as you call it) installed with files:
/usr/bin/lame
/usr/include/lame
/usr/include/lame/lame.h
/usr/lib/libmp3lame.a
/usr/lib/libmp3lame.la
/usr/lib/libmp3lame.so
/usr/lib/libmp3lame.so.0
/usr/lib/libmp3lame.so.0.0.0

(Lame 3.89beta)

If I leave out the -aim 128 it encodes as I have said with no sound, and
gives thousands of lines like this example:

head_check failed A-V:-42.207 oAV:-42.271 diff: 0.020 ct: 0.046 vpc: 0.046

Any idea what may be the problem?

Many thanks in advance,

Ralph
