Hi

I've written a short script that I think is useful.

memcode2size tries to encode given source file to
a new one (test.avi) that fits to the size given on 
command line.

Example: sh memcode2size 222 myhomevideo.avi

encodes myhomevideo.avi to a new file (test.avi)
that should fill 1/3 of 74 min cd.

The script run mencoder 3 times. First estimating
result audio size and then running mencoder in 2 pass 
mode with calculated video bitrate.
