[MPlayer-users] mencoder problems

You are right: the error message can be found in "lame".

I'm using "lame3.89beta" as you suggested when you
introduced "mencoder" (your mail with the subject
"MEncoder" from 2001/11/04).

AFAIK there is no newer version of lame available.

I double checked that there is nothing left of
a previous version of lame.

I just installed "mplayer" on a completely fresh
RedHat 7.2 machine:

- copy and install "lame 3.89beta"
- copy and install "mplayer" and "mencoder"
- copy and install latest DivX4Linux
- copy and install win32 binaries

Same results as above. 

FYI: the new machine uses 2.96-98, the old one
uses 2.96-81 from RedHat 7.1. Never had any
problems with these two regarding "mplayer".

Has anyone another suggestion on what's going wrong
here?
