[Mplayer-users] trouble with gui compilation

Hi list subscribers,
I tried to compile MPlayer 0.50Pre2 and while make'ing the  binaries, I got
this message:

This goes on for quite a while with warnings like:
bitmap/png/png.c:6:17: png.h: Datei oder Verzeichnis nicht gefunden
bitmap/png/png.c:20: parse error before `*'
bitmap/png/png.c: In function `pngLoadRawF':
bitmap/png/png.c:23: `png_structp' undeclared (first use in this
function)...
I am using gcc-2.96 (unfortunately) from LM 8.1 and I know it could be a gcc
issue, I'm not so literate in compiling and that's why I ask: if it is a gcc
problem, please let me know and I won't ask again, but if it's another
reason, please let me know what I can do to fix it... or is it a bug?
