Yes I'm getting the same thing.. there was a suggestion earlier to go into
the Gui directory and do a make in order to make libgui.a but that fails for
me also.. :(

Subject: [Mplayer-users] Re: Gui make error: /usr/bin/ld cannot find -lgui

When I try to compile mplayer with the gui (using gcc-2.95.3) I get an
error when it tries to compile mplayer (after it has finished
successfully compiling everything else). It says /usr/bin/ld cannot find
-lgui.

I'm using the latest cvs, just updated from cvs. Has anyone else had
this problem? I'm really eager to see the gui.

Here's the output of my ./configure --enable-new-gui

./configure --enable-new-gui --disable-dshow
You can get detailed help on configure with: ./configure --help

Config files successfully generated by ./configure !
Please check config.h and config.mak files, tune CPU
and optimization flags if you don't like these defaults.
You can compile the program with 'make' and
install with 'make install'. Good luck!
Note: On non-Linux systems you might need to use gmake
instead of make.

Ok, found Win32 codecs directory at /usr/lib/win32.
