Try ``avicat'' from latest avifile source. Previous versions had 
problems, but the
current one is excellent, outperforming Windows tools like PowerJoin.
For joining MPEG files, I recommend ``mpgjoin'' from mpgtx suite. Also 
tested
with excellent results.
