	Well, the general playback is fine now on PPC.

	I tried changing "-ao pcm" so that it works now on PPC (and, I
	suppose, any other big-endian machine) and sent a patch
	attached to my earlier message.

	Could you see if it is appropriate for inclusion in your tree?
