I doubt I'm the right person to express the real functionality of this
mencoder option properly. Moreover I don't even know how are you building
the manpages ;) In case of mplayer I'm just a poor luser :)
Anyway:
I'd put following sentence as -srate option explanation:
-srate <Hz>
Reencodes audio to specified sampling frequency.
For mplayer it affects playback speed as it suncs video
to audio.
For mencoder it gives audio stream with resampled Hz
frequency as a result (may be saved directly to an output
file or encoded with audio codec).
p.s. what does the following commad do:
mencoder file.mov -srate 8000 -oac copy -ovc copy -o output.avi
Does it first resample audio to specific sample rate (with lame?) and then
copy it (in original format, pcm, mp3?) or just copy the stream
without resampling?
