[MPlayer-users] Mencoder's speed

Hi,
i have installed MPlayer-0.90pre6, compiled from source with gcc-2.95.3 but mencoder is slower than that included with MPlayer-0.90pre5, i have encoded the same test clip at 28 fps instead of 34fps. I have tried to compile with gcc-3.1 but binaries run a bit slower than ones compiled with gcc-2.95.3.
My configuration is:
Athlon XP 1700+, 256 MB SDRam running Slackware 8.0 on kernel 2.4.16
i used:
mencoder -dvd-device /dev/hdc -dvd 11 -ovc lavc -lavcopts vcodec=msmpeg4:vbitrate=2000:vhq -sws 2 -vop scale=640:480 -oac copy -ss 5:00 -frames 2000
