Hi!

Are you 100% certain of this? I've been creating hundreds of
files with MP2/MP3/AC3 audio that was compressed separately from the
video and have never had a problem. That is using the
"mplex" program (from mjpegtools) though instead of mencoder.

I have used mencoder in the past with a "-audiofile ..." and it
worked ok. The problem I'm seeing now appears to only happen with
data from a DV capture.

Ah, ok. That will bring up the 'DV format 2 in avi' problem again
won't it? :) Or is that fixed and I missed it? :)

I will try that and see what happens.

Right, I saw that and "-oac copy -audiofile ..." is mentioned in the
man page and the FAQ I thought. Correct? From encoding.html:

Audio stream (option
-oac copy
): straightforward.
It is possible to take an external audio file (MP3, Vorbis) and mux it
into the output stream. Use the
-audiofile <filename>

I thought I was following the FAQ and manual. Is there another
section that says "external audio files are bad"?

Thanks for the reply - I'll keep experimenting and see what happens.
