Hi,

I am sad to tell you that at the moment, you are the only real open source
project for MPEG-4 left.

XVID has stopped its development because of severe license and copyright
trouble with Sigma Designs. You can find information on www.xvid.org, or
at slashdot, theinquirer.net and other sites by now. 
The story in short is 

Sigma Designs REALmagic MPEG-4 = XviD (at least important parts of it).

and they even admitted it in an email to us!!!

For version v1.1 they changed some of the code, some of ours seems to be 
replaced (still much is left) so maybe you should look into their codec,
if your code has been used, too, now...
