[MPlayer-users] Audio Packet problem

I was thinking about this problem again. I have discovered that the file I
was playing has 5.1 surround sound audio. It seems that it is trying to
send packets of 4096 bytes to my audio buffer, which appears to be 2048
bytes. My sound card only does two channels, so I presume that is the
problem. Is there any way to play 5.1 surround sound audio through 2
channels, which might fix my buffer problem. I've read that there is a
-channel option, however, my understanding is that this defaults to 2 on
ac93 playback (i can't test this cos I don't have access to my computer at
the moment). If I select -channel 2, will that have any effect?
Any help greatly appreciated.
Regards
Matt
