Sorry, I'm having a bit of an ignorant day :)
Here's what I see when I compile:

./configure --enable-gui --enable-linux-devfs --enable-lirc
- - --enable-live --enable-freetype --with-xanimlibdir=/usr/lib/win32
- - --with-reallibdir=/usr/lib/win32

...

Config files successfully generated by ./configure !

  Install prefix: /usr/local
  Data directory: /usr/local/share/mplayer
  Config direct.: /usr/local/etc/mplayer

  Byte order: Little Endian
  Optimizing for: i686 mmx mmx2 3dnow 3dnowex mtrr
  
  Enabled optional drivers:

Well, since you mention some compilation error, it'd be nice of you
to tell us *what* *the* *fscking* *error* *was*.
