hi,
i'm currently just dumping a really scratched dvd to disk via the
-dumpstream option and i was just wondering that it did not give up yet.
iirc i had a scratched dvd once with an older version (<= 0.60) and mplayer
gave up with i/o error after some time. now i'm dumping already 4 hours
and it didn't. i really like that as this is pretty useful for recovery
purposes.
if my assumption is right that mplayer (or the library that is used)
never gives up on scratched dvds, maybe someone would like to add a line
in the manpage/docs about it, so that everyone can see, how great mplayer
is once more :)

regards,
	wernfried
