is installed. (probably /usr/local/bin/mplayer)

Now make sure that as the user, the path (/usr/local/bin) is also in your
$PATH variabele (defined usually in  ~/.bashrc),
or run the command including the path directly (eg, type at the prompt the
full location of mplayer, /usr/local/bin/mplayer, instead of just 'mplayer')
