I don't know about pascal because I don't use it, but I ran across a similar 
problem when writing a perl program to control mplayer via slave mode. In my 
case, the problem was that perl was buffering the output and not sending it 
immediately to mplayer. If there is a way in pascal to flush the output... 
you might try that and see if it fixes your problem.
