[MPlayer-users] configuring mplayer for a linux distro

We use mplayer on what is essentially a specialized distro for kiosks.
I am trying to come up with the best set of options that
will work across the widest variety of x86 chips and vid cards.

The best I have come up with now seems to be configuring with
  --target=i586-linux --enable-runtime-cpudetection --enable-linux-devfs --disable-tv --disable-new-conf
And running with
  -vo x11 -fs -zoom -framedrop

Do you have any suggestions for why this might be wrong or a better
way to accomplish my goals?
