What version of faad(2) and are you using?
What version of mplayer are you using?
What version of linux are you using?

Were there any less-than-obvious pitfalls in the process of getting faad
support? What were your solutions?

History:

I have tried to use faad cvs, faad2 cvs, faad2 released, and even the old faad
from October 2001. All from faac.sourceforge.net.

One of two things happens when ./configure mplayer:
Either I get an error where mplayer complains that it doesn't like the version
of faad (so, faad is disabled).
Or (in the case of faad2), faad is recognized by ./configure, but when make
tries to build mplayer, I get an error "too few arguments", and the build
fails.

I have emailed with the developer of faac/faad/faad2, and he says that he did
change the number of arguments in faad2 lately.

I posted the faad developer's comments to the list and the errors reported by
make, but never saw any response.

Thanks!
