Quote from ./configure --help:

######################################
  --language=xx select a language (for translated messages/gui)
[en]
                         (Available: help/bg help/cz help/de help/dk
help/en help/es help/fr help/gr help/hu help/it help/ko help/nl help/no
help/pl help/ro help/ru help/sk help/uk help/zh help/pt_BR)
######################################

Would it be possible to modify that, and let people select multiple
languages when compiling mplayer? (with possibly an option "all" that
would automatically select every available language)
Of course, this should be supported, on the other hand, by a
configuration parameter in mplayer (gmplayer) itself: like "Choose a
language" or something.

This way, packagers could compile in all languages, and users would only
have to pick their own and use it, with an option to change it later.

Or, since we're already talking weird things :-) the --language=all
could be made the default compile language option, and let the runtime
language option default to "en" and let people change it if that's what
they want.
