[MPlayer-users] segfaults in dlopen()ing the supplied Win32 codecs

I know there's a bugreport format to adhere to, and as a dev, I can
understand why, but I have not been able to get the W32 codecs to
load w/o segfaulting at times, and of *all* the possible variables I've
played with, the only thing I can see different is it only segfaults on
my Pentium (Celeron 400 and P-II) machines, but not on my K6-2 laptop:

Searching the archives shows that people have reported this problem, but
the only suggestion offered as a fix is to check the compiler; this
happens with both gcc 2.95.3 and 3.0.3 on PII/Celeron, but not K6-2
regardless of compiler version:
