[MPlayer-users] MPEG audio broken on powerpc

mplayer decodes imaadpcm sound streams okay on linux/ppc.

mplayer decodes MPEG (Layer II and III) sound streams incorrectly
on linux/ppc with gcc 2.95.2.  with gcc 3.1
they're still incorrect, but sound totally different!

mplayer decodes MPEG sound streams okay on sgi mips systems.

mips and ppc are both big-endian.

guess: main/mp3lib and the powerpc port of gcc don't play well together.

code from some version of mpg123 has been incorporated into main/mp3lib.

play MPEG (Layer II and III) sound streams okay when i extract them
with -dumpaudio.

the "(c)" in main/mp3lib/layer3.c  is till 1997.
the "(c)" in mpg123-0.59r/layer3.c is till 1999.

upgrade?  anyone?  Somebody?
