[MPlayer-users] Skins for the GUI

trying to get the gui working and I think I'm missing some small essential 
thing here.  I type  gmplayer and get:

but the default skin is there.
	"ls /usr/local/share/mplayer/Skin/"
lists
	default/  neutron/  plastic/  proton/
which all contain skin files etc. 
I searched the mailing list archive, and looked in the manual but as far as I 
can tell this should be working.  anyone else had this problem?  Got any 
ideas?  Need more info (you'll have to tell me what)?
