[MPlayer-users] Subtitles problem

Hi!

I've been trying to set up subtitles (non-DVD), but have been
unsuccessful. I have referred to http://www.mplayerhq.hu/DOCS/ and the
manual page, and IRC.

The file is an AVI, and it has the following files in a subdirectory
called Subs:

 $ ls -a *
   92 tcrp-elv.IFO  6348 tcrp-elv.sub          4 tcrp-subs-elv.sfv
   96 tcrp-elv.idx  1644 tcrp-subs-elv.rar

I have unpacked mp-arial-iso-8859-1.zip, and "cp -r arial-24
~/.mplayer/font".

In ~/.mplayer/config I have the configuration line

 osdlevel=1

I launch mplayer like this:

mplayer -sub Subs/tcrp-elv.sub tcrp-elv.avi

(I also tried with giving the -sub subfile command after the .avi, but
it didn't change anything)

I get the following message in the console: 

 SUB: Could not determine file format
 Can't load subtitles: Subs/tcrp-elv.sub
 Not an URL!

The .idx file contains this at the top: "# VobSub index file, v4"

Does MPlayer support this type of subtitle?

Do I need special codec DLL's for this? This is what I have:

I should also mentioned that the file is incomplete, but I have waited
until there should be subtitles, and I've seen none. I've tried to
toggle with the 'o' key, but to no success.

I've come to a halt here. What can I do?
