Hello,

the hwac3 option works with the oss compatible cmpci driver (5.64) from
http://members.home.net/puresoft/cmedia.html with a small modification
in ao_oss.c. There is no need for any alsa driver, which didn't work for
me (SPDIF seems to be broken for my configuration).

The driver needs the samplerate set to 44.1 or 48 kHz before the AC3
mode is requested. In addition to that the cmpci-Module should be loaded
with spdif_loop=0. PCM output via SPDIF works also. So you only need one
cable for audio.
