Please wait until libvo2 stuff will be finished - I hope during this year ;)
We should implement such things there.
OTOH if your program is independed and affects only on "XV_BRIGHTNESS" and similar
variables of X11 then send bugreport to its developers but not in this mailing-list.
Probably driver of your NVidia is incomplete. Since 3D gamma != 2D gamma != VIDEO gamma.
As rule - these changes are performed by different chips of card.
