okay, u said there is no way to autodetect this stuff. i  got a new
idea. mplayer looks for its config in ~/.mplayer and in
/usr/share/mplayer, right? why dont u add the directory of the movie to
it? if the order is like this
moviedir
~./mplayer
/usr/share/mplayer
it should be no problem for anybody to add a modified config with "ni =
yes" (or other moviespecific settings like delay) to the moviedir.

only a suggestion..
