My 2 cents:

If you have a m$win available, you may give a try to nandub.  Use
directstreamcopy for audio & video and save the remuxed AVI => -ni is no
longer needed (but YMMV).

I had tried with virtualdub too but the result had problems with A-V
sync under win.
