I am a guest... no linux geek, I have only managed to build MPlayer and
use it with much fun (for mpegs and DivX;-) mostly). Recently I have
rebuilt 0.60 with libdvdread support, and tried to watch "The Matrix"
dvd. I have found a problem I was not able to solve, so I' m humbly
asking more learned people here... probably
it's a stupid thing of mine, but I couldn' t find anything in the DOCS
nor il the list archive.
With the default video output (i.e.,-vo xv), the image is "split", in
this way: suppose the original image is vertically cut into 3 stripes,
say AbC, with A and C equal in width and b much shorter (I can't state
the exact widths, because they vary from run to run). Then it is
displayed as C|bA, where the pipe stands for a vertical
magenta line a few pixels wide. Inside the misplaced stripes, the image
quality is perfect, and audio is ok too.
I have tried various options, to no avail. Other video device options do
not have this problem (-vo x11,gl,gl2),
but are unusably slow. Only -vo dga works, but it must be run as root,
and when the program exits it leaves
the video in a faulty state, X must be restarted in orther to run
MPlayer again.
Any suggestion would be deeply appreciated, Rettilone
