	Egotism plays a role, certainly, but don't forget utility. Open
source projects exist because there was a specific need that wasn't being
met by current tools. You may have heard a story about a Finnish graduate
student who set out to create an OS that took full advantage of his Intel
386 CPU because no other OS's in his price range could handle it.
