[MPlayer-users] possible bug with .dat files

Hi, 
I have a problems playing a vcd. Usually I open the .dat file with mplayer 
and it works fine, but there is one particular movie, where it doesn't work 
even though it is a normal vcd. It starts playing it but the picture is 
scrambled and mostly green. I think the problem is that the .dat file has no 
header. So my file manager recognises it as a textfile, whereas normal .dat 
files are of unknown type.
