You can try to use emu-script from emu-tools from
opensource.creative.com
(try to change 
CARD_IS_5_1=yes
ROUTE_ALL_TO_SUB=yes
PROLOGIC=yes
in emu10k1.conf)

It works for me "outside" of mplayer (f.e. mpg123)
