Probably similar to linux. First, they thought "this is a hacker's
toy....we don't care about it!" Then they argued that it was competition
to save m$ from being a monopoly. Now they actually care, though of
course they still cry "this is a hacker's toy....we don't care about it!"
while at the same time arguing that linux is competition. So when mplayer
(written by a few people for no $$$) surpasses MediaPlayer (which cost god
knows how many $$$ to develop) then they'll start crying. Sorry, not
exactly on topic, but I felt in a particular anti-m$ today and had to take
it out on the list.
