[MPlayer-users] no error message - and no video

i searched the prior postings and other sources, but couldn't find an 
answer. so please forgive this newbee question.

after installing divx5.01 and mplayer 0.9.pre4 suse7.3 i got several brute 
system crashes when running it. so i spent the weekend and am running 
suse8.0 now.

though probably divx5 was the reason i did't want to take a risk and 
installed divx4 and mplayer0.6 which worked fine for me before. the problem 
is: with a test-movie that ran before i do not get video - not even a window 
pops up, though mplayer detects the video codec. audio is fine. i tried it 
under blackbox, enlightenment and kde. as root and as user.

mplayers output comes as follows:
