[MPlayer-users] NeoMagic & RedHat 7.3

Hey guys, I'm new to the linux world and I have to say that although it's been
a steep learning curve I am enjoying it :) I have a quick (hopefully easily
answered) question that maybe you guys can help me resolve. Firstly I have a
IBM Thinkpad 600X (650Mhz, 192MB Ram, NeoMagic 256zx) system that's running
Redhat 7.3. My problem is that when running mplayer (pre5) with the xv
display option with a divx file the player crashes immediately (running divx
through x11 works fine though, but no streching :( ). I'm using the xv
enabled driver from the webpage but this continues to happen, even editing
the XF86Config file. What's odd is that I can run mpegs with no problems in
mplayer with xv. I've read through the docs and still couldn't find a reason
for this. What's even more puzzling (and irritating) is that when I ran SuSE
8.0 on this machine mplayer was able to run both divx's and
mpegs without any problems. The reason I switched to Redhat is because SuSE
kept acting up on me in other areas, so I guess I got rid of one thing that
didn't work just to get something else..heh In either case this is the last
thing I need to figure out and I should be all set with this lappy :) If
anyone can help me out or guide me in the right direction I'd really
appreciate it. I've already spent a good two days trying to fix this but
with no luck. Thanks guys and I have included the messages I get in mplayer
and also in xine (since it seems to give some more insight into this
problem). Also, when running any divx I have like at least 75% of my
resources free so my system shouldn't have problems running the files.

~~~mplayer~~~ mplayer -vo xv 'filename'
Start playing...
VDec: vo config request - 640 x 272 (preferred csp: Planar YV12)
Movie-Aspect is undefined - no prescaling applied.
VO: [xv] 640x272 => 640x272 Planar YV12
X11 error: BadAlloc (insufficient resources for operation)  0.0% 0 0 34%
~~~Xine~~~ xine -V xv 'filename'
received X error event: BadAlloc (insufficient resources for operation)
video_out_xv: x11 error during shared memory XImage creation
video_out_xv: => not using MIT Shared Memory extension.
X Error of failed request: BadAlloc (insufficient resources for operation)
  Major opcode of failed request: 141 (XVideo)
  Minor opcode of failed request: 18 ()
  Serial number of failed request: 3960
  Current serial number in output stream: 3961

PS. Thank you dev team for such an extraordinary media player!!
