[MPlayer-users] Mplayer without X (NVidia)

Is it possible with the following?

Rh 7.3
gcc 3.1
Nvidia Gforce2 MMX (32MB)
MPlayer 0.90pre5-3.1 (C) 2000-2002 Arpad Gereoffy (see DOCS!) from
source

I have /usr/local/lib/mplayer/vidix/nvidia_vid.so

I've tried:

-vo vesa:vidix
-vo vesa:vidix:nvidia
-vo vesa:vidix:nvidia_vid 
-vo vesa:vidix:nvidia_vid.so

I get either a driver error, seg fault, or sig 11.

All works well in X.
