[MPlayer-users] AC3 converting to lower bitrate

Hello,

I want to convert DVD to Divx with AC3 stream and play it over
dvb with the "-ac hwac3" option.
Is there a possibillity to lower the AC3 bitrate.

I thought ffmpeg has some functionality to do this, but I'm not
sure if mencoder provides these functionalities.
