Try it ;-)
It is possible to use ``split -b 400m'' on any 800Mb file you want, to
burn it to 2 CDs, if all you want to do with the CDs is transport the
file to another PC to reassamble it. The separate parts won't be easily
watchable though - the first will have no index section, so seeking
won't be possible, and the second won't even be recognised as an avi
file. If you want 2 separate files that are each watchable, then you
will need to RTFM for mencoder's -ss and -endpos options.
