[MPlayer-users] mencoder encoding AC3 audio to mp3 lowers the volume

hi,

i'd like to know if i'm doing it wrong or this is the way it works. problem
is that mencoder lowers the volume VERY much when reencoding AC3 audio to
mp3:

mencoder -ovc lavc -lavcopts vbitrate=615:vcodec=mpeg4:vpass=1 "Gosford
Park.avi" -o gp.avi -oac mp3lame -lameopts cbr:br=128
mencoder -ovc lavc -lavcopts vbitrate=615:vcodec=mpeg4:vpass=2 "Gosford
Park.avi" -o gp.avi -oac mp3lame -lameopts cbr:br=128

now gp.avi is absolutly undesirably quiet.
i can provide a full log if it's needed.
