So you won't have any output to screen !
This probably means you are using a matrox card.
Mplayer ships a special video driver for matrox ( and not only ).
As it's a driver ( module ) , you need to recompile it with your kernel
headers ( If you're using stock redhat kernel probably someone already
compiled it for this kernel). Then the device /dev/mga_vid needs to be
created, and accessible by you as user.
Anyway, it's all in the doc.

parameters so by default it may run
