Just -vo to override the default xvidix (the rule is "KISS" :-) ).

My conf file is

vo=xvidix
ao=oss
framedrop=1
cache=8192

Doesen't work with a DIV3 movie, too ("mplayer -vo xv x.avi" - "mplayer
x.avi" works).
The only thing the two movies have in common is that both are incomplete
AVIs...
