Yeah I have the same problem. Although not all sound is played that way. I've 
had this with "Die Hard". The plane landing gives me wonderful surround sound 
but as soon as someone starts to speak, the symptoms you describe appear. 
I've got an sblive and tried with both oss drivers and alsa (with oss 
emulation) with the same results.
