[MPlayer-users] Using spdif output with Mplayer?

 I looked thrue the mplayer docs over sound. And I'm wondering if I can use
spdif output with Mplayer in some way.
 I have a Crystal based card today (Hercules fortisimo-II), wich has spdif
output.

 I would both like to use it as "wave" output, ie mp3 sound and similar. And
as "raw" output for .avi files with ac3 sound included.

 Anyone got any ides??
