Hello.

I'm a beta-tester of the FreeBSD MPlayer port (port as in the FreeBSD ports system) and was asked to pass non port-specific issues to the MPlayer hackers, so here I am. The following bug report was performed
using MPlayer 0.90pre3.

The testing was performed on the following configuration:

XFree86 4.2.0 (using the "nv" driver and an NVIDIA GeForce DDR card)
gcc version 2.95.3 20010315
GNU ld version 2.11.2 20010719
GNU assembler 2.11.2 20010719
gtk-1.2.10_4 Gimp Toolkit for X11 GUI
glib-1.2.10_5 Some useful routines of C programming
png-1.2.2_1 Library for manipulating PNG images

The machine is a 1400 Mhz AMD T-Bird with 512 mb ddr ram. Each problem was verified by first using mplayer compiled with -O2 optimisations and
the falling back to -O just to make sure.

I've tested playing several .AVI videos encoded with the Divx3.11 codec
and found the following problem: If you start MPlayer with the -gui
option, load the video file, press play, go fullscreen and then go back
to the "normal" size, the video aspect changes from widescreen to
fullscreen, ie. MPlayer "eats" the black borders on top and the bottom
of the video causing the image to be widly distorted. This happened with
me using "xv" for output.

Also, the "pause" function (at least when using the GUI) seems to be
broken. If you start the playback and then pause using the spacebar,
pressing the spacebar again will not unpause the movie, but will rather
jump about 0.5 second forward and stop again. The only way to un-pause
the video is by clicking on the "Play" button in the GUI. This happened
when testing with DiVX 3.11 .AVI as well as .MPEG movies.

Starting mplayer with "-gui -vo x11", opening a video, starting the
playback, going fullscreen and then going back to normal size CRASHES
Mplayer with the following error:

=========================================
*** [vo] Exporting mp_image_t, 640x352x12bpp YUV planar, 337920 bytes
Gdk-ERROR **: BadValue (integer parameter out of range for operation)0%
  serial 2723 error_code 2 request_code 12 minor_code 0
=========================================

When using the GUI interface, "Add File", "Equaliser", "Playlist" as
well as "Configure" under "Preferences / Audio & Video" are still not
functional.

Hope this helps.

Sincerely,
Dan Naumov
