Maybe I misunderstand you but XCD doesn't degrade the quality of a
divx.  XCD is just a way of making a 800mb mpeg4 file instead of 700mb
and fitting it on a 80min CD.  The ones I've come across are xvid mpeg4
+ ogg vorbis sound inside an OGM container.  People are using the extra
100mb to encode the file at a higher video bitrate.  They're typically
offered as .bin or .dat files .  mplayer can play the resulting XCDs; I
was just asking if anyone knew a way of playing the .bin or .dat file
before it's burned as an XCD.  If not, no big deal.
