Hi,
Got this bugreport while helping one of our users with a sound
related problem, I fixed his sound problem (sortof) the ao_sgi driver
is buggy (doesn't report it's capabilities). But he also noticed some
problem with the video out:
Information about his sytem can be found in this post:

hej.
i finished building tonight, and audio works. kind of. its garbled and
sounds mangled. but it is there, and it is actually the audio (its not
just noise). it sounds like its turned up too loud or something. but i have
the volume at the lowest possible. maybe and endian bug? one other thing
that is semi-irrelevent - notice it says:
vo: X11 running at 1280x1024 with depth 15 and 15 bpp (":0.0" => local display)
this is wrong. i do not know how mplayer finds depth, but its wrong.
X on IRIX runs in 8 bit, with 24bit lookup tables. Sun's X is the same way.
lots of linux apps make this mistake by trying to "autodetect" instead of
attempting to get the best visual. i can force IRIX X to run in 24/32bpp
but it is kind of pointless. -bpp 16/24/32 has no effect, since i think
-vo x11 doesnt support it.
here is the output, let me know if you need more.
