Try running 'gmplayer -nofs -noquiet" and see what happens.  You must get 
some more output from the command such as a Skin not defined, an audio or 
video output not defined, or other messages.

Once you have more input, let me know.

starting MPlayer-0.90pre10-1 after compiling  --enable -gui
