[MPlayer-users] mencoder output png?

ok I see how you would play a gif98 file.  So here is my question.  I have 
seen how you would re-encode a video file using mencode and the "-ovc  lavc" 
and setting the vcodec value.  But I didn't see an "-ovc " option for gif98.  
If it is possible to convert a video to a animated gif98 format what are the 
options for mencoder.   

If it isn't possible then how do I capture a random frame from a video and 
output it as jpg.
