[MPlayer-users] 0.90pre7 Error Writing File

I recently built 0.90pre7 for use with xvid in divx4 compatibility mode.
I believe the codec is irrelevant, but I always seem to get "error 
writing file." just after Writing AVI Header.  

The obvious things (permissions, disk space) are fine, so I put in a 
perror call where that message is generated, and the output is:

Operation not permitted: Bad address

Any ideas?
